The tribe has always placed a high value on building a passionate community that fosters a progressive space where travel truly is a force for good.

In celebration of the 10th edition of We Are Africa, we want to spotlight 10 South African Icons and Changemakers – landmarks and institutions that continue to shape their communities and encourage travel – yet are outside of the We Are Africa tribe of buyers, exhibitors and press (think natural wonders, botanical gardens, nature reserves, conservation projects etc.). These organisations are vital to their destinations, welcoming travellers from around the world while preserving heritage, culture, and the environment.

More than just attractions, these WAA Icons & Changemakers drive positive impact – supporting conservation, fostering education, and uplifting local communities. We Are Africa wants to acknowledge them and their contribution to Africa’s evolution as a sought-after, dynamic travel destination.

In the spirit of There is More, nominate your Icon or Changemaker and, if selected, these organisations will gain complimentary access to this year’s show and connect with the tribe at We Are Africa 2025.
